best puma football boots 2023

The growth of the Puma brand has been astronomical over the past decade. And it’s mostly thanks to their cat-like leaps forward in innovation.

Not everyone looks at Puma football boots in the same light as other leading manufacturers, but we’re here to change that old hat view.

Puma boots like the Future, Ultra and King are often cheaper alternatives, with easily enough tech and build quality to rival the rest.

There are lots of options within their range and if you need more detail, we’ve put together a handy guide for Puma boot models too.

But for now and without further ado, we’re here to tell you which are the best Puma football boots this year…

The best Puma football boots available right now

5. Puma King Top (Black/White)

Ahhh, the most classic of classics. Still going strong since the 1960s, the Puma King Top has been modernised for today’s game.

If you’re still reveling in the nostalgia of Pelé and Cruyff going toe-to-toe, then this is the boot to accompany you.

Pure black k-leather with a crisp Puma Formstrip flash, it’s undoubtedly iconic. And it’s a boot which can still perform on the pitch.

Lighter than the original designs, the Top model is available for FG, SG and astro turf surfaces. Just make sure you like your boots black.

4. Puma Ultra SL (Glow Pack)

This is the choice for lightning fast wingers and forwards. This is the lightest football boot in the world, weighing a measly 90g. Yes, 90.

Super thin and dainty, this is not one for the faint-hearted. If you take a stud through these woven uppers, your metatarsals are going to know about it.

This glow-in-the-dark design is still packed with tech, using a Pebax outsole and Nanogrip to keep the foot snug and supported.

But we’re here to talk about speed, and you’re going to get maximum acceleration from the Ultra SL. Hurry, you’ll have to be quick to find a pair of these limited releases.

3. Puma King 21 (Black/Orange)

Cushioned goodness and touches like a Xavi/Berbatov hybrid, the Puma King 21 is the true modern version of the classic model.

As you’d expect, it’s premium kangaroo leather on the uppers only. KINGForm tech feeds in for increased responsiveness and quality on first touch.

We’ve picked out a standard black/orange design (we’re boring traditionalists), but you can generally pick up white or black options with varied Formstrip colours.

Platinum is the elite model, but Pro and Hero are takedown options for the budget-savvy player. This is a great boot for cultured ‘ballers.

2. Puma Ultra (Fastest Pack)

The latest Puma Ultra dropped in 2022. And it’s upped the game once more for male and female players everywhere.

We’ve picked out the original colourway from the Fastest Pack, which is an eye-catching, fizzy greeny-yellow. If your game hinges on pace, these are your friends.

The elite design is named ‘Ultimate’, and it brings the ultimate in tech. Lightweight ULTRAWEAVE woven uppers, plus PWRTAPE and PWRPRINT for stability, support and durability.

Cheaper variations are available in the Pro, Match and Play versions, with every surface type covered. We can’t wait to see more exciting colourways too.

Puma Future (Fearless Pack)

We’ve long been fans of the Puma Future, and the latest iteration is as incredible as ever. The World Cup's Fearless Pack release is an unmissable head-turner.

One of the most comfortable football boots around, it’s perfect for players with wide feet too. Puma is also leading the way by producing bespoke women’s shaping in their Ultra & Future models.

The top-of-the-range 1.4 has a genius lacing system that is adaptable and it’s part of Puma’s patented FUZIONFIT+ woven upper. GRIP CONTROL PRO coating covers the boots for extra feel on the ball.

The elite design is topped off by Advance Creator Zones and Dynamic Motion System in the outsole for improved accuracy of passing and sharper movement, respectively.

As usual, there are cheaper takedowns and multiple surface types to choose from. We’re looking forward to Neymar dazzling us in these.

Bonus: Puma King 21 IT (White)

Want some new trainers for the terraces, but also need some rascal indoor shoes for 5-a-side? Get it all covered off with one purchase.

As stylish as an adidas Samba, this Puma King 21 IT will set you aside from the rest. It’s also available in other classic colours.

Soft leather with suede bumpers and gum soles, this is a timeless design which every wardrobe (or kitbag) should contain.
