What is the Puma Ultra?

The Ultra is the latest ‘speed’ boot silhouette from the Puma team and the first true replacement for the popular evoSPEED which was discontinued in 2017. Puma have said that their aim for the Ultra was to create a lightweight model built for speed, whilst avoiding any compromise on other valuable aspects such as feel, comfort and durability.

The boot is set to be a big attraction for the game’s attacking players, with a raft of technology to support dribbling, touch and finishing.

Puma are obsessed with speed, we’re guessing that’s why Usain Bolt was so keen to join them. This obsession bleeds into the Ultra. The shape is as aerodynamic as they come, a sleek, modern silhouette which comfortably hugs the player’s foot. The major technology advancement comes in the form of a MATRYXEVO woven upper, a tough but light mix of aramid and carbon fibres lending breathability with protection and feel.

The outer of the boot is covered in GripControl Pro, a coating which helps provide the wearer with extra ball commanding abilities in a range of weather conditions. This tech is then coupled with an ultra-fast Pebax SpeedUnit outsole, infused with Puma’s running spike DNA, which results in ideal stud formation and stability for quick acceleration.

Nano Grip technology is the game-changer within the sockliner, this adds another level of comfort and grip to give the player a maximum torque when pushing away and twisting on the pitch. As ever, Puma’s standard lace closure system completes the cosy fit.

Who wears Puma Ultra boots?

Puma’s latest Ultra boot will be the weapon of choice for a number of attacking legends of the game, including World Cup winner Antoine Griezmann, Premier League Golden Boot winner Sergio Aguero, Inter Milan’s Romelu Lukaku and England’s goal-machine Nikita Parris.
